Nature of Services

We're coaches and peer supporters — not clinicians

Beyond This is a coaching and advocacy organization, not a clinical practice. Our co-facilitators are coaches, peer supporters, and advocates. We are not licensed therapists, psychologists, physicians, or social workers, and our services do not constitute therapy, counseling, psychiatric care, or any form of licensed clinical treatment.

Content related to relationships, intimacy, and disability is provided for educational and peer support purposes only. It does not constitute sex therapy or licensed relationship counseling.

Do not discontinue or modify any medical treatment, psychiatric care, or clinical plan based on information or coaching provided by Beyond This. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, contact your healthcare provider or call 911 immediately.

HIPAA: Beyond This is not a covered entity under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Communications with Beyond This — including coaching sessions, community participation, and email — are not protected health communications under HIPAA.

Confidentiality

We protect what you share — with some important exceptions

Coaches and facilitators do not share personal disclosures outside of the facilitation team without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • Where required by law, including mandatory reporting obligations under Missouri law
  • Where there is a reasonable belief of imminent risk of harm to you or another person
  • Where disclosure is required by a valid court order

Participation in peer community spaces — cohorts, drop-in sessions, and forums — involves other participants who are not bound by professional confidentiality obligations. Please share accordingly.

Crisis & Acute Distress

We are not a crisis service

Beyond This programming is not equipped for crisis response. If you or someone you know is in acute distress or danger, please reach out to one of these services directly:

Facilitators and coaches are not equipped to provide crisis intervention. We may follow up with resources, but we cannot guarantee real-time response to crisis disclosures made in community spaces.

You choose what to share

Recording & Documentation

We will always tell you before recording

Some Beyond This programs may be recorded for facilitator training or quality purposes. You will be notified in advance of any session that is recorded, and recording will not occur without your knowledge. Notes made by coaches or facilitators remain internal to the facilitation team and are not shared without your consent except as described under Confidentiality above.
